Fossil fuel power stations refer to electricity generating facilities that use fossil fuels such as coal, oil or natural gas as their primary energy source. These power plants burn the fossil fuels in order to produce heat which is then used to generate steam. The steam drives a turbine connected to an electrical generator, producing electricity. Fossil fuel power stations are one of the most common methods for generating electricity worldwide and account for approximately 85% of global electricity production. However, they also have significant environmental impacts due to their greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to climate change.
